CAREER PATHWAYS
Providence CityArts provides professional development for artists of all ages who are interested in how to use their arts practice to support youth development, education, and social change.
Teen Employment & Training
Summer and school year internships and teaching assistantships introduce a diverse team of teens and young adults, to jobs in arts and education, learning to use CityArts approach with younger students. The summer program brings 15 teens to CityArts for six weeks of job training, work experience, and pre-college portfolio development.
RI Teaching Artist Center
CityArts works with the RI State Council on the Arts to manage the The Rhode Island Teaching Arts Center (RITAC) whose purpose is to promote and support the positive impact of teaching artists across the state's various sectors. We envision a Rhode Island where skilled teaching artists inspire and transform our diverse community.
Professional Development Workshops
Each year CityArts provides approximately 20 professional development workshops focused on our approach to youth development, social justice, and arts education. These are led by an eclectic group of artists and teachers from the community, and are open to teachers, teens, and teaching artists.
AmeriCorps Teaching Artist Program
CityArts' AmeriCorps program provides ongoing job-embedded professional development opportunities for emerging teaching artists. Each year approximately 25 teaching artists dedicate a year of service to bring arts education to more than 800 students in low-performing public schools while participating in intensive job training.
